Which 35mm SLR to get?—curious_…

i am going to be taking a black and white photography course this semester and i need a 35mm SLR… i need help on deciding which one to get. i want something that is good and at the same time relatively cheap because this is a beginning class… i really don’t know much about cameras and so i need help!
a link to a possible camera would be a great help… maybe an item from ebay or something.

The Pentax K1000 is considered to be the best student camera. Totally manual. You can take a lot of excellent pictures with a K1000 with a 50mm f1.7 lens.

If you buy the K1000 and 2 or 3 lenses and then switch to a Pentax DSLR (K100D Super, K10D) you’ll be able to use the lenses from your K1000.
