I want something that has a fairly wide angle (or interchangeable) lens for landscapes. Can you get a stills function on them?

it all really depends on your price range. Sony and cannon are the most reliable in my experience. most consumer camcorders do take pictures.

going to a best buy and talking to a sales person is a good idea.
