What is the typical rate for outdoor shoot?— Pik200

Friend of mine asked me to shoot their family portrait of 6 adults and 3 kids in outdoor setting. place where they want to shoot is about an hour drive from where I live and I was wondering what I should charge them just for driving out and shooting?
any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

I charge $450 for a solo environmental portrait, $575 for groups. I spend about an hour to 90 minutes on most shoots, but never hurry to get back home and take my time if needed. Rate includes retouching and digital negatives on disk.

Here in central Jersey I charge $150 for a local photo family shoot (within 20 miles) that includes no prints. I charge $250 for a beach portrait session (I am anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours from the beaches I shot at). Beach sessions usually include a mounted 11X14. My photo sessions last anywhere from 1-2 hours but I will stay as long as it takes.

I then charge per print with an average of about $400-$500 in print sales from the sessions.

Here in Vegas, an outdoor portait session, an hour away would run $400 to $600 and up.
Depends on who the photographer is and if the family bought the CD.

Me, I charge $600 for a buy out (CD). That is $100 more than my average session/print sale for the last couple of years. Either fully retouched and FEDEX’d or burned on the spot. I had a big family (85 people) session this past weekend. They wanted he CD then and there, so I did some mnior retouching and burned away!

If I can pre sell a 20×30 or 30×40, then it’s $400 session, plus the print(s). (I charged $800 for a 30×40 on a canvus mount. I sold one last year, nice work when you can get it. I should have charged more…..)
