I would like a video camera That I can use to make nature documentaries with.

I’d recomment the Canon HV20. At around $1500 to $2000 it records HD to tape and has plenty of manual options.

For something more up-market I’d suggest the Canon XH A1 for around $6000, but you would really need a very good reason to justify the extra expense.

I’d go for the HV20, but I am unashamedly biased to Canon gear.

I loved my Canon XL-2 mini-DV camera … it was cheap compared to what the editing station cost me. $6500 for the camera and lens and $55,000 for the editing station. Yikes!

The best thing is it uses standard EOS lenses, so you can find good used Canon telephoto lenses for shooting wildlife.
