switch a memory card between two different cameras

I have a Canon Powershot A530, and a few months ago the lens went kaput. (A friend of mind broke it accidentally..)
And a mom of a friend of mine has another camera, it’s a new one, I don’t know the make or model, but I was curious as to whether or not I could take the memory card in mine (which is a standard mem. card that I got when I got my camera, 512 mb) and put it in the friend’s camera and have everything still work.

As long as the cards are the same size(physical size not memory size), you can use them between whatever device you want. They can be different brands as well, but they need to be the same shape and size. Each camera might use the memory at different speeds(ie. one camera can take 300 pics with it but the other might take 325 with it), but it will still work.
