What most neutral filter would you suggest for Olympus 14-42 lens?

–Mr. Owl

if you are simply trying to protect your lens then don’t use a filter…it’s one more piece of glass the light has to go through and there is a chance it could affect the quality of your prints unless you buy a really good multi coated filter like a hoya SMC….but most people who do opt to put a filter on the front would use a UV filter or if you want to warm up you photos a skylight filter. Now if you were meaning a neutral density filter then I would still recommend hoya

The UV filter is the first choice for protecting your lenses front element. Some say the lens shade is enough, but they are designed to “pop” off the lens when struck so they do not end up causing damage to the lenses mechanical elements.

ND’s (neutral density filters) are used when you want to use a slow shutter speed in bright sun.

The other filter you may want is a circular polarizing filter
