I need to find a macro zoom lens for Canon Rebel XT. Price range - up to $ 1,200.00 USD. I am looking for suggestions on which lens is the best quality for my price range.

The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM macro is one of Canon’s true macro lens.

Notice it is not a zoom lens. This macro lens is for use in critical macro environments such as scientific research, medical photography and investigations where edge to edge sharpness and luminance as well as the ability to take photos of subjects at a true 1:1 image ratio is required.

If you search the Internet you will find that the only zoom macro lenses for your camera are made by third-party manufacturers. Sigma and Tamron both make a variety of zoom macro lenses. Lenses in the 24-85mm range are the least bulky, but your needs will dictate what lens you eventually choose.
