Konica Minolta Z5 Camera Broken?—candace B

Hello all. I own a Z5 it’s like my heart actually and about a year ago a friend of mine tried to upload pictures from it to his computer and used the wrong cord to do so, while the cords were similar i noticed that this on was a little tore up meaning it was bursting at the seems for lack of a better example. Right after that my camera would not turn on. I know a year is a long time to have something that you love so much out of commision without trying to do something about it, but i was unsure of how much the repair would cost esp. considering my 1 year warrenty was up, so i packed her up and left it at that.
What has changed is that i recently moved to the us and i figured that repairs may be something that could easily be done here.

Does anyone know what might be wrong with it? Or where i may be able to go to have it repaired?

If your camera isn’t working at all, I might think that a wrong voltage might have passed over the wire and could have fried an internal component inside of your camera. That would be the most likely suspect when it comes to that.

As far as repairing goes, 2 bits of advice I can offer:
1) If you do get a repair quote, it might very well be more to repair the camera than it would cost you to get a brand new digital camera, but I can understand how attached you can become with a camera. I’m just letting you know this in advance, as the repair company may or may not have the parts to accomplish the repair. With that in mind…

2) Konica Minolta was recently acquired by Sony, so I’m pretty sure you have to route all repair requests through them. I have included a link below to Sony’s support page for Konica Minolta products, you should be able to use the number there to find what you need.
