Which is the best buy between the Fuji FinePix S8000 & the more expensive Panasonic DMC FZ18?
Is it worth paying the extra 50 pounds for the Panasonic? Does it have more facilities or produce better prints? Thanks.

I’m not going to knock the Fuji product as it’s probably pretty good, but I’ve been using Panasonic cameras for a few years now and it’ll take a lot to pull me a way from them. What are you going to use the camera for? Weekend candid shots a few times a year? The Fuji may be the price you want to pay…but if you’re taking up photography as a serious hobby, you’ll want at least the Panasonic DMC, and you may even want to check out the Lumix line from Panasonic.

* Much better macro feature
* Leica lens
* Uses state of the art Li-ion battery (holds charges longer and can last for five years or longer)
* Uses lens based IS
* Uses the industry standard SD memory card.
