Can I take the DVD movie from my camcorder put it in my computer then look through video and take snapshots of just the right frame in the movie. To get perfect snapshots from the DVD movie. And if possible can you explain the different kind of DVD discs an exactly the one I need for this. Owners manuel is a little vague in the specifics of such. This is my first camcorder big suprise huh?… Happy holidays thanks for looking…

It is possible using a video editor software to take still pictures from a video - BUT - they will be far from ‘perfect’ snapshots. Video frames by their very nature are very poor resolution and when you try to print them at a reasonable size you will be VERY VERY dissapointed.
but you can try it this way
Use a programme called Ulead VideoStudio - you take the mini-disc out of your camcorder and put it into the DVD tray of your PC making sure it sits centrally in the little depression made for it. You may have to ‘finalise’ the mini DVD your camera manual will tell you how to do that - but you should note that once a DVD is finalised you cannot record any more video on it.
Inside VideoStudio you select “Insert DVD” and point the programme at the DVD and follow the prompts and the video is copied from the disc into the timeline of VideoStudio so that you can edit it - remove stills from individual frames - add lots of different videos together - add titles/music/narration - make a file that you can e-mail or upload to ‘Youtube’ etc. and finally burn to a full size DVD to play in a standard player.
