Canon Powershot S5 IS Vs Pentax K100D Super?—paul_w81…

Which one should I get? I know it’s SLR-like Vs SLR but it’s also Canon (!) against Pentax… I really need an opinion because I cannot decide and I’m vvery very confused! My profile would be “demanding amateur” and I don’t know which one to buy. I like macro/closeup as well as landscape photography. Pleeeeease! I need to get down to a decision!!!
Note that I was considering Fujifilm 9600fd a while ago…

I had a Canon S2 IS, which was my 2nd Canon Camera. the LCD died and was replaced under warranty. In fact, the whole camera was replaced with a S3 IS.

I used it for 3 months and upgraded to the Pentax K100D because I wanted better low light performance without using flash.

They are quite different cameras. The kit lens on my K100D is only 18-55mm. In 35mm terms, thats about 28-75mm, so it is wider than the S3 (and the S5) which starts at 36mm equivalent. I find the wide angle really useful for parties where people are close up. I have since purchased a 50mm F1.4 lens and it is amazing what you can capture without a flash. This is where the K100D has it over the S5.
