What brand of SLR is the best and the cheapest?—Gem

I am still a student so budget is very much limited. But I do like to buy a SLR camera or a good digicam that takes good pictures. Thanks!

I have just purchased a Olympus E500 hands down after months of research if you are an armature photographer and want to get great quality and some money this is the camera for you. It comes with two lenses and costs under $600.
