The best way to go is to purchase a “Pocket Wizard”. It is a radio controlled device that puts no strain on the flash shoe of the new DSLR’s. Both Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras can only tolerate a less than 12 volt trigger pulse (some Canon cameras state less than 6 volts). Most of the studio strobes have upward of a 300 volt trigger and that can fry any DSLR camera.
The pocket wizard has four different channels, so in a studio setting, there could be four different strobe setups and the photographers would not interfere with each other.
