I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a digital for years but I wasn’t sold on the picture quality, (without spending a great deal of money) and I’m frankly a film snob. I have a vintage Fuji SLR and a Canon Photura which both produce great shots but are cumbersome to chase the kids around with.

Canon PowerShot SD870 IS versus Canon PowerShot SD850 IS?—saranico… S
I’m in the market for a new digital camera for Christmas, and I’ve narrowed it down between these two. I’ve read excellent reviews on both cameras and as far as I can tell, the only differences are that the 870 has a bigger screen, and it also has the wide-angle lens. But other than that, the cameras seem the same to me. The wide-angle lens isn’t all that important to me right now, and I’m fine with the smaller LCD on the 850… but something keeps telling me that I should go with the 870, since it’s a step above the 850.
I was just wondering if anyone has either of these cameras, and if you like it and would recommend it? I’m really stuck and I’m having a hard time choosing between the two, and I need some help!

They are both about the same price and have almost the same features. I’m kind of leaning towards the canon because of brand name but am not sure. Ill be using the camera mainly for pics of friends and family for fun and maybe some video as well. Thnx to whoever helps me out!

As a senior citizen I find a lot of the new technology “beyond me”. This little video camera is extremely user friendly and fun to use. You do not have to be a teenager or a “geek” to use it. I highly recommend it.
