Well it has looks and charm, make no mistake of that. With a decent resolution the 780 can happily sit playing with its ISO controls with no overt concerns about digital noise, unlike the 12Mp brigade who would turn away and play with their cufflinks at the merest mention of ISO200.

ephotozine Review the Olympus Stylus 780 and gave out”The landscape scene mode has a mind of its own, which results in limited depth-of-field, but portraits are nice, light and evened out and the shadow removal feature is novel and useful. For the market the camera is aimed at, it works well enough and is a little cheaper than most rivals. The fact that it looks good and can survive the odd splatter of rain in our dismal summer can only be a good thing too. “

Beginners and advanced amateurs alike will find the E-410 a fully-featured camera. It can shoot simultaneous raw plus JPEG and allows you to choose white-balance colour temperature values between 2,000K and 14,000K, as well as fine-tune along the red-blue and green-magenta axes.

CNET Australia Reviewed the Olympus E-410 and gave out”
The good:
* Very compact for a dSLR
* Speedy
* Live View mode (LCD preview) operation
The bad:
* Subpar autofocus, exposure, and automatic white-balance performance
* Some poor choices for default
The bottomline:
Olympus’ compact dSLR for newbies, the Evolt E-410, is a decent choice if you’re looking to save space in your bag, but issues with its automatic exposure and white balance make it an unsatisfactory option as a first dSLR.

Because the TZ1 is inherently less stable than a bigger, heavier camera, the advantage of image stabilization is even more noticeable, and - as long as you don’t expect miracles - it is able to counter camera shake surprisingly well, even at the long end of the 10x zoom.

Dpreview reviewed the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 and gave out”Putting aside all talk of noise reduction and other image quality metrics I should firstly say that I really liked the DMC-TZ1; it offers a unique twist on the popular ’super zoom’ concept, and having such a huge focal range in an (almost) pocketable package is an appealing proposition. The photographic versatility that comes from being able to shoot everything from wide landscapes to tightly cropped telephoto shots - fairly free of the risk of camera shake, thanks to Panasonic’s excellent OIS system - in a camera you can carry everywhere, cannot be underestimated.”

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1S 5MP Compact Digital Camera with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom features a refractive prism lens unit that allows zooming to occur horizontally within the camera.

This makes it possible to pack a powerful 10x optical zoom — equivalent to a big 35 to 350 millimeter lens on a 35mm camera — into a compact camera. The Extended Optical Zoom function, which magnifies the image with minimal deterioration by using the center part of the high-resolution CCD, boosts the zoom power of up to 12.5x. Continue Reading »

The C743 is quite large by modern compact camera standards, but at least that means it’s fairly chunky and easy to hold. At 145g it’s also heavier than most compacts, but it feels very light for its size.

Kodak EasyShare C743 was Reviewed by trustedreviews and said that - “The Kodak EasyShare C743’s low price may be a temptation, but don’t be fooled; it actually represents extremely poor value for money. The meagre list of features, horrible zoom control, slow performance, appalling low-light ability, limited battery life and very poor image quality will prove to be a major disappointment for anyone unlucky enough to find themselves in possession of this camera. If the C-series is going the way of the Dodo then the C743 will not be missed.

The solid-feel, all-metal build Canon Digital IXUS 950 IS replaces last summer’s IXUS 800 IS and, from a cursory glance at the top and front faceplate of the camera, complete with perpetual curve design, is its complete doppelganger.

PhotographyBlog review the Canon PowerShot SD850 IS and gave out”so small and murky the view through it. Arguably, apart from the boost in pixels, there’s not a great deal to make a song and dance about with the Canon Digital IXUS 950 IS

In our colour test the Z1050’s results were good, but not exceptional. Colours were well balanced and relatively accurate, although there was a little error evident in the warmer colours (reds and yellows).

Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 was Reviewed By goodgearguide and said”
A solid entry into the compact camera space, the Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 isn’t the best camera we’ve reviewed, but the 10 megapixel sensor captures some great pictures, making it a good choice for those that want to make larger than regular size prints…….

Announced in January along with the 7-megapixel TZ3, the DMC-TZ2 is being promoted as the ideal travel camera. It certainly has a lot going for it, with a 6-megapixel CCD, a tough all-metal body, a high resolution 2.5in monitor and a big image-stabilised 10x zoom Leica-branded lens with a focal length equivalent to 28-280mm.

trustedreviews Reviewed the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ2 and Gave out”Panasonic’s claim that the TZ2 is the ideal travel camera has plenty to back it up. Build quality, handling and design are all first rate, and overall performance is well up to scratch, including in low light conditions. The superb quality and useful zoom range of the lens and the good high-ISO noise control should produce excellent picture quality too, but they are slightly let down by harsh file compression.”
